Hair By SJ Forbes

Like the next woman, I really enjoy getting my hair done.  My hair has gone through a transformation from mousy brunette to blonde, and it's taken me a long time to get here - but I still need some "work"  When the team at SJ Forbes got in touch, offering to rid my hair of the nasty orangey blonde tones - I couldn't say no!

Tucked away in a quiet cobbled street in Windsor, lies the newly opened SJ Forbes salon.

Their first salon being in Egham - the company decided to branch out to beautiful Windsor.

The Windsor salon is extensive, with a trio of sinks, and a very modern, and clean atmosphere.

 Hair by S J Forbes is the creation of Sean J Mcelhill, and former Rush franchisee owner Hayley Forbes. 

The brand is fairly new with S J Forbes’s Egham salon opening in 2015 and their second in Windsor opening in August 2016.

Hayley welcomed me into the salon, and made me feel really at ease.  The photo above shows how orange my blonde hair has become, and it really needed a good cut!  I was lucky to be in great hands with Hayley - I showed her some pictures of the kind of style that I wanted, as well as the colour.

My hair is already highlighted, but I have been using (naughty) box dyes and it's really not suited my complexion!

Hayley and I went through the colour chart and we opted for a warm blonde, followed with a darker blonde that when blended together, will enable my dark roots to grow through in a gradient and  being much more flattering.

Hayley also wanted to use on me -

Bon Pro - This product repairs the hair as your colour lifts, it colours behind it and seals the bonds.

Ola Plex - is a system that permanently rebuilds the damaged disulphide bonds in your hair that are broken during the chemical process. If you've over-bleached over the years, Olaplex allows you to rebuild the strength, structure and integrity of your hair; a 'reset' for your locks, if you will. The system has allowed colourists to do work that they'd only ever dreamed of before. Black to blonde in one session? No problem.

And she also recommended me to use the Kerastase sensitive scalp shampoo and conditioner to help my poor flaky psoriasis scalp.

After deciding on the colours to have highlighted it was time for highlights to be applied, taking Hayley and her assistant an hour to apply the two shades - I was so excited to see what the final results was going to be.

Is the turkey done yet?!

After a good cut, where about 2 inches was removed from my mane - and fab highlights, the result was in.  A glossy head of blonder hair, much less orange and highlights blended to perfection!

The next day I went into work, to all of my colleagues praising my new blonde doo - and it's all thanks to Hayley!
I loved my time at SJ Forbes so much, I have already booked to go back in November.

It's by far the best salon experience I have had, where the hairdresser actually listened to what you wanted, and delivered it in a really caring way.

I have noticed that since using Ola Plex, that my hair is less "fluffy" in the mornings, and I can't wait to visit SJ Fforbes in November to go even blonder ;)
